Nestlé inks deal with CMA CGM for low carbon transport solutions - VY KHANG TRADING AND TRANSPORTATION JSC

The world’s largest food and beverage company Nestlé is currently transporting 100% of its CMA CGM volumes to BIOFUEL+, a biofuel derived from organic waste, resulting in an impressive 84% reduction in carbon emissions.

This collaboration empowers Nestlé to avoid 70,000 tons of CO2 annually, significantly cutting down its greenhouse gas shipping emissions.

“Reaching net zero requires changing many aspects of how we source, make and distribute our products. The agreements we’ve signed with CMA CGM will help reduce emissions with an immediate impact on our carbon footprint and lay the first stone for further partnerships to decarbonize shipping and distribution,” stated Stephanie Hart, Nestlé’s global head of Operations.

Introduced in 2020, the ACT WITH CMA CGM+ low-carbon range has been created to support CMA CGM’s customers in expediting their energy transition. This offering allows customers to assess their environmental impact, diminish carbon emissions through cleaner alternative energies, and offset remaining emissions via environmental projects.

“This agreement with Nestlé is one of the first of its kind, whereby shippers and beneficial cargo owners commit to decarbonizing all shipping emissions,” said Christine Cabau-Woehrel, executive vice president of CMA CGM Group Operations and Assets.
