CMA CGM announces new congestion surcharges in Algeria and Turkiye - VY KHANG TRADING AND TRANSPORTATION JSC

 

CMA CGM has announced new port congestion surcharges (PCS) in Turkiye and Algeria due to continuing delays in between congestion/waiting time plus berth time on the current vessels berthing sequences.

As a result, laden cargo lead-time is being increased, empty equipment re-loading / repositioning frequency is affected and operating costs are rising, according to the French carrier.

Thus, CMA CGM will implement a PCS of US$/€/GB£ 150 per TEU for dry, hazardous and reefer cargo, effective from 3 July from/to Mersin, Turkiye to/from the Mediterranean (including Portugal), North Africa (including Morocco), Black Sea and North Europe (including Baltic) and from the Mediterranean (including Portugal), North Africa (including Morocco), Black Sea and North Europe (including Baltic) to Bejaia, Algeria.

Meanwhile, the severe congestion at the Turkish port has led CMA CGM to suspend the Mersin port call on its NC Levant Express service.

Additionally, the Marseille-based box line has announced another PCS from the port of Mersin to Middle East Gulf, Red Sea, North East Asia, South East Asia, China, Hong Kong SAR and Indian Subcontinent.

This surcharge of US$250 per dry container will be applicabe from 1 July until 30 September.
