ZIM and Gold Star Line have extended their service coverage in Oceania with the launch of a new service connecting Australia with New Zealand.

The new product is called New Zealand to Australia Service (N2A) and commenced on 2 April with the 2020-built GSL Africa calling the Port of Auckland. The port rotation of the new service is Melbourne – Sydney – Auckland – Tauranga – Melbourne.

Connecting with both the China Australia Express (CAX) and the China to Australia service (C2A) at the Port of Sydney, this new and fast service will offer customers a 16 days transit time from Shanghai to Auckland and a 15 days transit time from Yantian to Auckland, according to the Israeli carrier.

Two vessels of 1,100TEU nominal capacity with extensive plugs for refrigerated cargo will be deployed on the N2A service, while a fleet of new, advanced reefer units fitted with the ZIMonitor system designed to constantly monitor the containers to prevent damage will be available.

“We are responding to market demands by rolling out the New Zealand loop which bolsters the stabilisation of our Australia network and supports our expansion into the Australia-New Zealand area,” pointed out Eli Glickman, ZIM’s president and CEO.
